Social & Emotional Skills
Kicking off a fantastic journey into formal schooling also means nurturing children's social and emotional skills. To make it happen, we use The You Can Do It! Education Early Childhood Program. These lessons are all about helping children to develop resilience, confidence, persistence, organisation and getting along.
Independence and Responsibility
Moving into kindergarten is a big leap from preschool, and it's all about building those crucial skills of responsibility and independence. We guide our young learners by encouraging them to:

Fine Motor Skills
We understand just how important it is for young children to build up their hand muscles so they can conquer those kindy tasks with ease. To give them a kick start, we work on:

Motor Magic
Session Curriculum
Our Fabulous Floor Session
The first part of each Perceptual Motor Skills session focuses on teaching the skills and language needed for the day. Our littlest Brainiacs begin with a warm-up, work on eye tracking and fine motor skills, and practice the movements required for the equipment session.
Move Those Hands and Feet
This is where the real action begins. During the equipment session, students apply the foundational skills from the floor session to complete a variety of activities, specifically targeting the senses, balance, coordination, control, intuition, and strength.
Language Skills for Little Learners
Our Motor Magic class promotes essential language skills needed in the classroom. Students learn key directional and positional vocabulary, like "above," "behind," "below," and "in front." These terms are vital for developing mathematical concepts, following instructions, and helping children understand the environment around them.

Our Motor Magic class supports students to:
• Recognise their dominant hand for writing
• Eye-track to be a successful reader
• Learn appropriate pencil grip pressure
• Develop strong upper body muscles to support writing
• Build stamina for sustained focus during seated activities
• Take turns

• Work cooperatively as a team
• Understand fairness
• Self-regulate their emotions

Session Curriculum
For Our Kindy Kids
Our sessions focus on building strong phonological awareness, a key foundation for reading success. We target essential skills like recognisng words, breaking words into syllables, and identifying individual phonemes. We help set our Brainiacs up for confident reading and writing.
Phonemic Awareness
In our program, Kindergarten students explore phonic knowledge by learning single letter graphemes and digraphs, laying the foundation for reading. As students progress, we introduce single-syllable and multisyllabic words for our older learners. This approach helps equip our Brainiacs with the skills needed to read and create texts.
Spelling
We want our Brainiacs to be super spellers, so we use the Get Reading Right synthetic phonics program to boost their confidence. Our sessions incorporate fun and engaging activities designed to get results!
Creating Written Texts
During our sessions, we will explore essential elements needed to be confident writers including text features, punctuation, grammar, vocabulary, planning and editing.
Reading Fluency and Comprehension
Our program builds reading fluency by focusing on key elements like automaticity, responding to punctuation, and adjusting pace and volume. Alongside fluency, we teach various strategies to comprehend texts, ensuring students grasp the deeper meaning, make connections, and engage critically with what they read.
